While tanning salons are still being frequently visited by tanning enthusiasts, a growing number of people are now realizing the benefits of utilizing spray tanning techniques. Spray tanning at home is gradually becoming the go-to method of people who enjoy flaunting their bronzed body. If you are one of those individuals who love to tan their body and if you are interested in trying out spray tanning but you're clueless on how it is done best, you may want to follow this step-by-step procedure.
Step 1: Like with any tanning session, the first thing that you need to do is prepare your skin for tanning. This includes exfoliating your skin 8 hours before your tanning session. The last thing that you want is for your first spray tan experience to get ruined by dead skin cells, oily skin, dirt or any other natural skin's debris which interfere with the tanning solution. Shaving 8 hours before tanning and taking a shower is also recommended.
Step 2: Moisturize your skin after taking a shower before your tanning session by using a moisturizing lotion. Put an additional amount when you are moisturizing rough areas like the elbows, knees, and feet. Give your skin an hour or so before undergoing the tanning session after you finish moisturizing.
Step 3: Make sure you are wearing a pair of tanning mitts and a plastic cap and clip to keep your hair from getting covered with tanning residue. Shake your tanning product first to better mix the tanning formula.
Step 4: Read the instructions on the tanning product to help you better use the product on your body. Instead of spraying your body from top to bottom, use your tanning spray similarly to how you would use an aerosol can. Move up your body by spraying the tanning solution in a circular motion from your feet up to your neck. If you have a tanning mitt designed for use on your face, use it otherwise use a soft cloth when applying tan on your face.
Step 5: Before you wrap up, make sure that you blend or even out visible streaks. Make sure that you are still wearing your tanning mitt. When you are done, give the tanning solution time to settle on your skin before taking a shower. Refrain from engaging in activities that can get you wet such as exercises, washing dishes or swimming.
As a final note, your results are not only dependent on how well you follow these steps but they are also dependent on the quality of the product that you are using.
